Cheshire Day Ranger
An STP has just entered the working timetable - a 1Z10 day out riding the rails around Cheshire, including Stoke, Crewe, Chester, Liverpool and Manchester on Thursday 16 July 2026. We'll be taking advantage of the Day Ranger ticket to get some mileage in and visit a few stations and cities as we go. If you fancy joining us for the day or indeed part thereof just let either Rob Walton or Nigel Capelle know and we can arrange to meet somewhere. We'll be kicking off around 9am in Crewe.

TransPennine Diversions - POSTPONED
Following discussions with group members and a review of the latest weather and railway situation, we have decided to postpone Friday's West Yorkshire 1Z10 photography trip due to the forecast of extreme heat, humidity and sunshine which would make the day unnecessarily strenuous, together with the increased risk of rail disruption and reduced train services. Although we appreciate this will disappoint some of you, we believe postponing is the right decision and we can arrange a replacement date later in the year when conditions are likely to be more comfortable and photographically productive.
1Z10 summer outing on Friday 26 June 2026 will explore the Leeds–Mirfield diversionary route through the West Riding, taking advantage of the TransPennine line closure via Morley and Dewsbury. The alternative routing offers a unique opportunity to photograph a wide variety of traffic, including freight, Northern Rail services, Grand Central workings and diverted TransPennine trains. The route combines urban industrial scenes with more open, rural Yorkshire backdrops, providing excellent photographic variety. With a linear layout allowing flexible positioning, good access and long summer daylight hours, the trip promises to be a busy, rewarding and potentially standout day.
