Inspirational Railway Photography

Driven by Innovation and Friendship

1Z10 is a UK railway photography collective built on shared enthusiasm, creativity and friendship. We believe great images grow from challenge, encouragement and shared experiences. Through camaraderie, learning and a love of the railway, we create inspiring and innovative railway photographs while building lasting friendships and a strong, evolving community. We don’t simply photograph trains. We create photographs in which the railway plays the leading role.

Mission

To create and share high quality railway photography that captures not just the subject, but the light, mood and environment in which it exists.

Vision

To build a recognised body of work that reflects the very best in contemporary railway photography, while encouraging creativity and collaboration within the group.

Values

Friendship, camaraderie and creativity guide everything we do. Quality over quantity, sharing knowledge and inspiration.

TransPennine Diversions - POSTPONED

1Z10 summer outing on Friday 26 June 2026 will explore the Leeds–Mirfield diversionary route through the West Riding, taking advantage of the TransPennine line closure via Morley and Dewsbury. The alternative routing offers a unique opportunity to photograph a wide variety of traffic, including freight, Northern Rail services, Grand Central workings and diverted TransPennine trains. The route combines urban industrial scenes with more open, rural Yorkshire backdrops, providing excellent photographic variety. With a linear layout allowing flexible positioning, good access and long summer daylight hours, the trip promises to be a busy, rewarding and potentially standout day.
